Swenson's: 75 years of burger expertise
Swenson's Drive Ins, located throughout the Akron and Canton area, is a local icon. Opened in 1934, this retro-style drive-in and fast food chain has been producing award-winning burgers for hungry patrons for 75 years.
The Galley Boy, a delightfully cheesy double burger with not just one, but two special sauces, is their signature treat.
At Swenson's, pull up under the canopy and it's lights-on for service. A flick of the headlights will have a server at your window in a matter of seconds. It doesn't take much longer for your food to arrive, either. Hot, fresh and made-to-order, Swenson's never disappoints with its glorious grub.
In addition to the Galley Boy, Swenson's offers a dozen other hot sandwiches. From American classics like fried beef bologna and saucy sloppy joes to moist fish and chicken fillets and barbecued pulled pork, Swenson's has a sandwich to please just about everyone.
Of course, if you aren't in the mood for a sandwich, Swenson's has plenty for you, too. Fresh fried chicken, fish and shrimp baskets are always on hand and are served with crisp golden fries and cool coleslaw.
If you're watching your weight, don't think that Swenson's won't have anything for you. From the “Salad Boy”-- a tasty veggie patty with all the burger fixins' on a whole wheat bun to the grilled chicken and egg salad, there is a variety of tasty temptations that won't wreak havoc on your waistline.
A large variety of salads and soups are also available.
A kids menu featuring kid-friendly favorites like hamburgers, chicken nuggets, grilled cheese sandwiches and hot dogs will bring a smile to any child's face.
Desserts, like the Xango cheesecake-- creamy cheesecake fried in a sweet cinnamon tortilla and itti-bits, tiny dots of ice cream, are also available. If you prefer to drink your dessert, Swenson's delicious milkshakes and malts are the way to go.
